Re: Emmylou songs at open mic nights

Been doing open mics for a coupla years now and it'd be hard to pin down which song(s) I might do on a given night, though lately Ballad of Sally Rose is a good find--always plays well on a first listen. As does just about anything else you find yourself "stuck" on for a while. It seems li...

Re: FOOTBALL

Well, dear one--we should be safe here. Though I lived for a time so close to the Cowboy's HQ that, with my windows open, I could hear helmets crunching and lots of loud grunting during the mini camps--I am only a fair weather Cowboy fan. The 90s were sure fun for both our teams, though--and Troy wa...

Re: east coast baseball

And now it is (as they say) "all over but the shouting..." sigh. Well, I am glad to report that I am not near as broken-hearted as I expected I might be, but I think that's due to the flat-out greatness of game 6. Just to have my team on the field for one of The Most Exciting October Games...

Re: east coast baseball

Hard to be on the wrong side of the outcome, but oh my--what a magnificent night for baseball lovers everywhere! That there is what it's all about ! Arlene, when I first moved to Austin, Ann was still in office and Molly was doing her thing in Fort Worth. And I felt like I belonged. They were powerf...

Re: east coast baseball

Whatever the situation with TLaR or whether and how it affects things in the clubhouse, it's game-on tonight! Last year, a Dallas attorney filed a motion for a continuance when the first game of the WS conflicted with a hearing in a municipal court in Irving, TX. All y'all should enjoy this very leg...

Re: east coast baseball

You met The Man?!! I hear he may show up at the park tonight--maybe that will keep the cameras off dubya (in case he shows up, too). Long as the fake pistol-wielding Jacquin Andujar is nowhere to be seen.. Never met a true baseball fan whose team didn't make 'em learn to cry--I guess that's why the ...

Re: east coast baseball

Heh-heh...they don't call 'em the damn yankees for nothing. Hope the cash is keeping them warm this October. Now, to begin a long story none of you has asked for but some of you may enjoy, I'll start randomly from the middle of my baseball tales (tangled as they are with my own history) in the fall ...

Re: Emmylou with Delia Bell

Thanks, Russ...I'd never heard of this little project.

This is a very nice Wildwood Flower...it has that great Emmylou-bluegrass vibe of the era. Fun stuff.

Re: Emmy & Ricky Feb. 15, '79 in San Juan Islands

Great find! Thanks, Arlene. I saw her a few times in the late 70s, early 80s, but I never remember her talking between songs. This was a treat, and I especially love that she did Hickory Wind--because it was time, I guess.
