I hate to see favorite players age out of the game, but I'd rather see Varitek being the back up catcher than Manny or Bonds or Clemens etc trying to be something they aren't anymore.

I agree. And if Bonds and Clemens are barred from the HOF, I think Manny might be also. It really is sad, and the Manny situation makes me wonder how many other players are still using PEDs....

As for watching favorite players age, I think that they should play as long as THEY want to and they still have something to contribute, but if a favorite, such as Derek Jeter, decided that he wanted to retire at the end of this season because he can no longer play at the high standard he expects of himself, I would completely understand. It must be one of the hardest things in the word to do-- go out on your own terms. I sometimes think that entertainers in other endeavors have it easier than professional athletes; Picasso was able to create great art well into his late 80s and unlike Yaz or Bernie or otherbeloved baseball players, Emmylouand Willie and Neil Young, etc., didn't have to stop performing professionally in their late 30s....

Arlene , outstanding pointy ,, it must be so hard for all athletes that , once in the limelight performing at such a high level , it must become addicting , it has to ..and to fade away so young in football they are old at 30 .. 30 !!! baseball players can hang around longerthan most , and of course they are not to be felt sorry for , they have made millions doing what they love .. but now to Manny what was his PED ... pot ?? i think it`s cool he retired as Neil Young so aptly sang it .."better to burn out than to fade away " adios amigo !!

In noticed my first grey hairs this weekend. Hmmm. Not many, but still, I wonder if there's any connection between this event and the Yankees-Red Sox series.... (Also, I wonder if Emmylou became a baseball fan before or after her hair started to go grey.,,,(

Gosh, it was nice to see the Red Sox actually play well. Hope Beckett and Paps can keep it up.

Craig, you were obviously on PUDs - performance unenhancing drugs.

Top 7th 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 R H E

Blue Jays 0 1 0 0 0 0 0 - - 1 3 0

Happy Patriots Day! 9-1. Not too shabby. Hope this is the team of the future.

I was watching something about injuries - Josh Hamilton out for 2 months with a broken arm - ouch for the Rangers.

Well-- I think they've solved the Dice-K proble; they should only start him in games that begin before noon! :). Seriously, with that line-up, we always knew the Red Sox would score a lot of runs. The question has been the pitching, and with Beckett back in form, and Lester and Bucholtz an ace and ace-in-waiting, it was only a matter of time before the club showed its true form. You know that Crawford will come around-- they're scary good, despite the slow start.
