If you could sing a song for Emmylou...

If you could sing a song for Emmylou...

which one would it be?

We have so much to be thankful to Emmy for and i just
wish there was even some small way to pay her back.
i mean in addition to buying as much of her music
and going to as many of her shows as we can.

She always sings for all of us and, for me (if i could sing),
one of them for her, it would be...

As Long As I Live

Emmylou and Johnny Cash

Okay i'll shut up now.
for all the rest of my days...

Russ.

Cool question! Sing for her in a live show, for example?
Just one song? That's hard, can't choose!

    Hickory WInd (Parsons)
    For a dancer (Jackson Browne)
    The Maker (Lanois)
    Fort Worth Blues (Earle)
    One Paper kid (Cowart?)
    Step away (Willie P Bennett)
    Gypsy Life (John Gorka)
After the storm (Mumford & Sons)
Ow and:
My way back home or A little bit of everything (by Dawes)

And at least a Guy Clark song.
(Like a coat from the cold? Or Instant Coffee blues?)

And then, if I am still breathing, I would ask her to sing with me Steve Earle's Goodbye

The original post and song selection creeps me out a little bit... Sorry Russ....

One way to "pay her back," so to speak, would be to work with dogs in need of adoption, or donate money to animal causes.... or to other causes she supports, such as banning mountain removal mining or the use of landmines.

Good call Arlene... sorry about creeping you out. i like your thought about helping dogs and/or other animal causes - like local animal shelters or the Humane Society or the World Wildlife Fund - and supporting other causes like the ones you had mentioned.

Good ones, Spodeness and 3Chords.

In that dream, i would also try to sing this for her -
but it would be where my voice wouldn't be craggy
and rough and i could keep a pitch.

I find this whole notion quite bizarre.
It's like suggesting that William Shakespeare might be interested in the demented ravings of someone on Twitter:

Yo Will, crap day 2day - got chp @ wrk. Y dnt U rite abt it in yr nxt plA. LOL.

I'd gladly sit down with Emmylou and play a bit of lead behind her if invited, but sing? You've gotta be kidding.
I'm gonna tell you how it's gonna be
