2nd Annual Miracle on Music Row

Postby kate » Mon Nov 21, 2011 4:50 pm

I know most of you aren't here in Nashville, but here's the news anyway. The music segment will probably last 1 hour.

O.liv Body Bar and Bonaparte’s Retreat announce the 2nd annual
“Miracle on Music Row," a holiday pet adoption event hosted by
Emmylou Harris, Saturday, December 17, 10:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. at O.liv
Body Bar, located at 1200 Villa Place in historic Edgehill Village. The
charity event will benefit Bonaparte’s Retreat, an organization in
Nashville dedicated to providing nurturing foster care and homes for
shelter animals.  Though the event is free and open to the public, a
suggested donation of $10 will be taken at the door.
Special guests The Civil Wars, Mike Farris and Buddy Miller will perform
along with Emmylou Harris.  The event kicks off with a dog parade at 10:30
a.m., led by Emmylou and Santa.  There will be a silent auction
offering a variety of items from Edgehill Village and Nashville vendors,
including a Gibson guitar signed by all special guests.

In case anyone's making the trip to Nashville, December 17th is also the day that Emmylou will be appearing on The Opry with The Civil Wars and it's at The Ryman so.... (No, I won't be there but enjoy....)

I'm not sure if this question is justified, but are those harmonies always in tune?

I don't think so, but - the vaguerities of recording from the audience and probably no sound board working should be considered (and, there might not have been any rehearsal). Still, at least a thousand times better than any sound that has ever escaped my lips - wish I could have been there to enjoy.

Some great pictures by Amiee Stubbs on the Bonaparte's Retreat Facebook page, including one of Emmylou singing with The Civil Wars (as per the video linked on Russ's posting--it's wonderful for those of us who live far away to be able to see them on Youtube--thanks for posting it, Russ!) and, of course, a couple of Emmylou with Lucky. There's quite the backstory on Lucky there on Facebook, too--he's a blind 12-year-old bulldog who was rescued by the Metro from a cruel home environment and has now been adopted--by Emmylou herself!
