Here are the quiz answers:

We were so young when we met I Had My Heart Set On You (Thirteen)
Raw as a whip but clean as a bone Easy From Now On (Quarter Moon etc)
With such fire in our bellies The Road (Hard Bargain)
He promised that he’d take care of me If I Be Lifted Up (Angel Band)
I’ll wipe the liquor from your lips Blackhawk (Wrecking Ball)
Yes I’m as good as what you’re thinkin’ Woman Walk The Line (Sally Rose)
We both know where we’ll be and what we’ll do tonight Lovin’ You Again (Cowgirl’s Prayer)
Ain’t no way to act in public. Baby Better Start Turnin’ Em Down (White Shoes)

My life with you’s become a living hell Better Off Without You (Brand New Shoes)
Good luck and fast bucks are too few and too far between Old Five & Dimers Like Me (AIITB)
I can leave you alone if I try I Don’t Have To Crawl (Evangeline)
I don’t know who’s right or wrong Heaven Only Knows (Bluebird)
You ask me if I’ll find another Guess Things Happen That Way (At The Ryman)
You tell me there are more fish in the sea I’ll Go Slippin’ Too (Roses In The Snow)

The ballgame’s all over and she knows she’s lost The Last Cheater’s Waltz (Cimarron)
The desert’s quiet and Cleveland’s cold Pancho And Lefty ( Luxury Liner)
Motel ceiling stares you down Even Cowgirls Get The Blues (Blue Kentucky Girl)
Her chariot is a cross town bus Queen Of The Silver Dollar (Pieces of the Sky)
She sighs ‘baby did you make it all right?’ Racing In The Street (Last date)

My blood is on the mountain Lost Unto This World (SIG)
Like sunlight dancing on your skin Till I Can Gain Control Again (Elite Hotel)
Come now, there it shines so bright Light Of the Stable Light Of the Stable
And the angels turned to ashes Michelangelo (Red Dirt Girl)
Standing there with broken wings The Maker (Skyboy)

All the above were taken from Emmylou’s own (solo) albums, rather than collaborations, and I intended that only solo albums should be used to answer the following:

Tie breaker 1:
Name 6 people who have played fiddle on Emmylou’s albums (there are more than 6)
From : Mark O’Connor, Richard Greene, Ricky Skaggs, Byron Berline, Rick Danko,
Wayne Goodwin, Buddy Spicher, Stuart Duncan, Sam Bush.
(Emmylou has of course recorded/worked with others including Norman Blake, Tammy Rogers, Ali Bain, Jay Ungar, Glen Duncan, Alison Krauss, Ricky Simpkins

Tie breaker 2:
How many cars has Emmylou mentioned on her albums? (Makes/models and numbers)
I am accepting a ’69 Chevy and a Camaro (from Racing In the Dark), a ’59 DeSota (from The Ballad of Sally Rose), a Cherry Red ’53 jitney (*)(from You Never Can Tell) and of course Six White Cadillacs. (*) This can mean a number of things including a hire car.
If pushed I would accept a generic stock car (from Ain’t Living Long Like This) a generic SUV (from Time In Babylon) and possibly even a taxi from Lovin’ You Again. I’m not accepting the Mustang and Maserati from Red Staggerwing. This does not affect the result as both leading contenders suffered equally from this decision..

A Six and Fourth streetcar is, as far as I’m aware, a tram. There are various theories as to where it may be, always difficult with A P Carter songs. A rig is mentioned in Guitar Town and I assume this is a truck.

So the important bit. Both Rita and Russ correctly identified all the song titles but Rita narrowly wins by identifying more cars. Well done to them and to other entrants!

On reflection this was a quite difficult quiz and I doubt that I could have managed more than 70% of the answers. I will post another quiz early in the new year.

Carl Jackson mysteriously vanished from my list of those who have played fiddle on Emmylou albums when I was cut'n' pasting. Aplogies to the talented Mr J.
