Bonaparte's Retreat is dedicated to providing nurturing foster care for shelter dogs when their allotted time at the shelter has elapsed; to prevent these wonderful animals from being euthanized and to find them permanent, loving homes.

Bonaparte's Retreat was created to rescue dogs who were unadoptable from Nashville Humane Association. It has evolved into rescuing dogs who have run out of time at Metro Nashville Animal Control.

We are working on starting a foster program for the dogs. For information on being a foster parent, please contact kate@emmylou.net

June Bug

June Bug is a short legged Lab mix. Or a French Bulldog mix. Or a Corgi mix. Whatever she is, she's incredibly cute. She's about 2 years old, 30 lbs, very friendly, very house trained.

Sally

Sally

Sally is an 8 year old, 35 lb survivor. What incredible spirit she has. Most of her life spent on a 5 foot chain, she delights in each new experience that comes her way. New pictures to come in a week or two.

Bandit

Bandit is a shepherd mix but he's quite small by our standards. He weighs about 35 pounds and is about a year and a half. He's smart, quick to learn and very affectionate. He needs an active life without small children and other dogs.

Gunnar

Gunnar is a shepherd mix who is recovering from heartworms. He's probably around age 2, very sweet but very shy.

Gunnar

He's recovered nicely from the heartworms. He is working with a behaviorist for fear aggression. He really is a great big (80 lbs) puppy to the three people he isn't afraid of and we're working to expand his horizons. He does very well with the other dogs.
Follow Gunnar's progress.
